Volunteer Opportunities

The Volunteer Programs at Palma Sola Botanical Park are an opportunity for citizens of Manatee County to get involved in many different ways. We are always seeking volunteers in the following areas:

  • Gardening
  • Guides
  • Reception
  • Gift shop and Plant sales
  • Special events
  • Teachers
  • Artists
  • Maintenance crew
  • Administrative office

The Park’s Volunteer Coordinator organizes all volunteer activities and roles throughout the Park and manages our most valuable resource – our volunteers. The Coordinator maintains a database of volunteers and has compiled a volunteer orientation handbook and volunteer application forms.

Speaking tours, combined with the Park’s education program, identify potential volunteers and create an awareness of volunteer opportunities available in the Park. Training sessions are regularly scheduled for our volunteers, and we submit regular press releases and marketing materials highlighting our volunteer activities. Our Volunteer Recognition Program features an annual awards event.

We are grateful for their help, and we can put your talents to good use, too! Whether you have a few spare hours, or would like to volunteer on a regular basis, whether you like to work alone, or in a group, inside the buildings, or outside in the sun…we would love to have you!

We offer volunteer positions for all ages – a preschooler can learn to weed the butterfly garden, and teens can build volunteer hours for service and school requirements. Folks not interested in working outside on the Park grounds can assist in the office. And there are always short term commitments, such as the special group who works on Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation’s various special events through the year. The Park organizes Volunteer lunches on a regular basis where you can meet like-minded people and share your interests over a sandwich.

Palma Sola Botanical Park Foundation, Inc. raises all of its annual support through membership dues, donations, facility rentals, grants and gifts. If you can share your time or expertise with us, call, email or just stop by!
